That totally makes sense! I think the message the Loves Consent folks are making, while for all of us, is really important for younger women who might feel an expectation to be slutty or sexy or anything other than true to themselves. That said, some of the stuff VS and other brands write is hilarious, and I have to tell you, I have a whole notebook of ridiculous things I could put on the back of panties. It’s really fun to come up with stupid or vulgar or “profound” ideas… Not too sure how many will ever make it into the shop, but it’s definitely one of the perks of this line of work :) I’m sure you have some good ideas too… :)
not sure how old you are, but do you ever wear the phrases panties?
wow, i’d never seen that before. i understand what they’re doing, but i really don’t believe the VS panties with phrases are that harmful. like I don’t really think anyone takes them seriously enough to actually promote rape culture. that being said, some of sound really slutty (like a few i have actually haha) which is why i was and am super embarrassed if someone sees them. i think they’re they’re funny, but when the cute guy in the laundry room saw the "kiss me" ones I was mortified because high school girls typically wear the ones with phrases and as a senior in college, i felt really silly!
I think so. So funny that we have similar panties! I’m super torn about the ones with phrases on the front and back. Sometimes they’re hilarious, and sometimes they’re super not-feminist. But I LOVE this project that’s a spoof on Victoria Secret but also a challenge to stop promoting rape culture: http://pinklovesconsent.com/pink/pink.victoriassecret.com/about_pink_nation.html What about you? Where do you land on the phrases panties?

haha very true! sexy little things collection? i actually think i have a pair like the one you described, only black with red polka dots
also, what do you think about the ones with those phrases on the back or front. ever buy them?
Thanks for sharing, Kate! I’m glad I’m not alone. Of course mine were from VS – where else would one get such audacious panties? :)
haha how badly were you blushing? when I was in college, I was doing laundry in the dorm laundry room. I took my clothes out of the dryer and a guy who was waiting moved his clothes into that same dryer as I moved to take my clothes out of another one. well, apparently I wasn’t too careful taking my clothes out, because I didn’t catch everything. namely the bright pink Victoria’s Secret panties that said "KISS ME" in huge letters across the back. he was like "I think you left something in here" and held them up with a big smile across his face. I probably turned about 15 shades of red, took them and said thanks. then got out of there as fast as humanly possible.
were yours also from VS that time?!
Yes, Kate – exactly! There is no good way to handle that situation except to just wait it out. :)
LOL..haha wait so you knew your undies were showing as he was standing there?! poor girl, I bet your cheeks were burning waiting for him to leave haha!
Thanks so much, Rebecca! Even panty makers aren’t immune from this type of embarrassment! :)
So funny. Great story! Love the snails climbing up the Eiffel Tower too.
Thanks, Theresa! I think so too- you are lucky your husband helps tag team any wardrobe malfunctions! Love the tip about the boyfriend cardigan too- here’s to future avoidance of these types of situations :)
Great post! I think we’ve all been there. Luckily my husband is the one that notices first so I can readjust as needed before any one else gets a glimpse. Haha. But in the event my pants are just a little too hip-huggy, a boyfriend cardigan, with it’s longer than average length, can really save the day! :)

Kate, I’m just about to turn 31, and while I don’t have any phrases panties anymore (but that could change with the next production run…), I do have a ridiculous pair of pajama pants that say “Snowed In.” Whatever that’s supposed to mean when it’s on your bottom :) I asked on facebook too (http://www.facebook.com/lavieenorange) to find out where others fall too. Anyone else want to weigh in?
